Kristan Hunt is a registered nurse, mother of three sons and the founder and owner of the Hamakua Hideaway Cliff House, started in 1986.
Kristan , a 5th generation Californian, moved to Oahu in 1971 and to the BIg Island in 1979. She loves the beauty, the weather and the remoteness. The small village of Kukuihaele has been her home for over 20 years.
Kristan’s muse is her garden, where she organically grows flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables. She has ducks, chickens, cats and a dog. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking and kayaking. She is a writer and a poet, and a Healing Touch student.
The Cliff House is Kristan’s pride and joy. The romantic bungelow is situated on its own private peninsula and is very private. Guests do not share the bungelow with anyone else and this seclusion is a rare commodity nowadays. The peace and tranquility of the 50 ft. waterfall below and the gentle sounds of bamboo rustling in the tradewind breezes are so relaxing that many guests choose to just hang out, unwind and breathe in the beauty, feeling rejuvenated and ready to go back to their lives when they depart.

“We’ve always considered ourselves curious travelers with elaborate ideas of seeing the world. But as we pack today, this being our 4th year in a row here, you may as well book us again for next year, Kristan - the rest of the world will have to wait.”
